Being a father is one of the most exciting adventures I believe I can have. I found out that I am going to be a father Halloween of this year. Its funny because to this point, I really have no great responsibilities as a father. I've tried to support my wife and let her know that I love her, but I've had no fatherly responsibilities. I'm sure that will come. Fortunately, for me, I've been blessed with a terrific example. I have a wonderful earthly dad that I'm quite different than, but I could not have asked for anyone better. I have been blessed to know my spiritual father as well. Its funny because this relationship has sustained me through everything. Why have I been this lucky/blessed? I have no idea. But I do feel the pressure of being that to my son/daughter. Well, I guess we'll see (all this is the classic guy's question of do I measure up). I do know it will be an adventure. Along the way, I'm sure God will really show me how to put the things I cannot control in HIS hands. Oh well, all this to say, one day I hope to look at my son/daughter and tell him/her how proud I am of them. Maybe that's God's wish for me?!? As of now, I couldn't be more excited.
